Pat McGrath is a British makeup artist and creative design director of Proctor & Gamble. She was born in 1870 and raised by her Jehova's witness mother who she credits for her creativity. She explains how her mother was always mixing up different colours because there were not many products on the market for black skin. After completing a foundation art course, her big break came when she was offered to work with Soul II Soul in Japan. This then lead to her working with Edward Enninful (fashion director of i- D magazine) and became beauty director.
In 2004 she was named global cosmetics creative design director for Proctor & Gamble, while Vogue named her "The most influential makeup artist on the world".
She has developed a line of cosmetics for Gorgio Armani and regularly works on major advertising campaigns such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Lanvin and Balenciaga. Her editorial work has featured in Vogue Italia and American Vogue.

Dolce&Gabbana 2010 ad campaign

I first became aware of Pat McGrath's work when I saw the Dolce & Gabbana fall 2010 makeup ad campaign. The makeup was absolutely flawless and beautiful. I was totally in awe of her use of shading, colour and precise application. Also, i love how she fit the brief- creating different Marilyn Monroe style makeup looks. Since looking into her work further, I am inspired by how creative her work is. She creates a lot of her own pieces, such as feathered eyelashes and cut out eyebrows. I inspire to be as creative and as innovative as she is.

Pat Mcgrath designed the face masks that featured in Alexander McQueen's Spring/ Summer 15 show. She hand made over seventy designs and thirty five were picked to feature. She also designed the feather lashes and eyebrows for Alexander McQueen's Autumn/ Winter 14 show. Each were individual glued into place.
