Guido Palau began his career in the early eighties, working in Vidal Sassoon. After his dismissal, his big break came when he was offered the opportunity to work with George Michael. His work began to get published in fashion publication The Face and this is where his hair styling caught the eye of Calvin Klein. He instantly hired Palau to work on his latest campaign, featuring Kate Moss and his 1994 fashion showcase. Soon after, he gained work with the likes of Versace and Alexander Mcqueen, whom he has created many theatrical styles for. He has collaborated on editorials for many high end magazines including American Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

He has been named as one of the ’25 Most Powerful People in Fashion’ by the British Fashion Council, is a creative consultant for Redken. He has styled the hair of supermodels such as the legendary Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford and these styles have inspired the fashion industry. 

Guido Palau for Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty

Guido Palau’s hair styles awe inspires me the most when he works on an Alexander McQueen showcase. I think McQueen’s fashion theatre allows Palau to really show off his creativity and skill. One of my favourite hair creations by Palau were designed for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2011 Costume Institute exhibition, “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”. He created warrior style head pieces from hair. It was simple yet so effective and showed great skill in his shaping and asymmetry.
